From the quarantine zone

We're having a bit of a rubbish month with winter illness. Beau's just started on his third round of antibiotics in four weeks and Jasmine's not been much better. Poor kids. The only thing they inherited from me was my crappy lungs. I think Tim and I have had about 2 unbroken nights sleep since my last post and my work situation has been a nightmare because I've had to spend so much time home with sick kids. It's so unfair that just at the very time the kids are at their whingy, whiney, sickest, most clingy worst you are quarantined in the house and removed from all adult company.

Beau's still working on his walking, and can now stand for a few seconds unassisted. He gives himself a round of applause whenever he's proud of himself and usually the physical effort of clapping topples him over. He's got 8 teeth now, 4 top front and 4 bottom front, and is having a good go of gumming down food.

Trying out the bottle (which he never did for me, little monkey)

Big cuddles

He's still pretty fussy about what he eats, and unfortunately one thing on the refuse list is baby panadol (which I think you call Tempra in Canada). Yesterday he had a terrible fever so we tried to administer some after breakfast. Big mistake! I ended up with porridge and banana vomit all over me. Nothing quite like the smell of banana and bile with your morning cuppa.

When he's bigger he's going to hate me for sharing this, but he has to have suppository panadol! He gives me this little look of concern whenever I put one in (euggh - I could never be nurse) and I say to him, "Well mate, you brought this on yourself! All you needed to do was swallow 2 tiny milliliters of panadol and you could have avoided this!".

He's LOVING riding a trike around, and we have borrowed a balance bike from the toy library for Jasmine, so they race around the kitchen island after each other. He's obsessed with bikes (no doubt because Daddy rides one too), and tries his hardest to get on Jasmine's. Then ends up in tears because he can't do it - I mean, the kid can't even stand up on his own, talk about ambitious!

Jasmine is all about stickers, fairies, princesses, fairies, ballet, flower girls and fairies right now. She's just started putting on little 'shows' for us where she dances and sings her own little made up songs which are completely tuneless (something else she inherited from Dad!), that go something like this, "I'm a flower girl, I'm a flower girl, I'm a little fairy flower girl, I'm a ballerina, I'm a special tooth fairy, I'm having a nice little day...". You get the gist.
We love Hello Kitty!
She's also twigged that her birthday is approaching and is very excited about turning three and having a party. She's been practicing holding up three fingers to show how old she is and has pre-ordered a Dora birthday cake and continues to insist on it being Dora despite me talking up fairy and princess cakes.
