Exhibit A: Beau sat on the whoopee cushion so hard making fart sounds that it literally exploded.
Exhibit B: Since Beau would much rather hold a football than a pen, we had no idea whether he could actually draw anything resembling anything. To test this out I asked him to draw me a picture of a person on the weekend. To our astonishment, he did. Complete with 'poos coming out of her bottom'.
Exhibit C: Beau is obsessed with firemen/firetrucks. Obsessed. To the point where a short walk down the street with him involves him testing out all the poles.

Dressing up
I may have mentioned that Beau loves dressing up. What I may not have conveyed is just how much he loves dressing up. I asked him how he felt when he dressed up and he replied: "'Cool and fun and strong and brave."
Jasmine loved to dress up when she was 3 & 4, but she only ever wanted to be a fairy or a princess. Boys dress ups are so much more fun!
I wanted to remember this phase in the life of Beau's dress ups, so we had a little photo shoot last weekend. I brought all the costumes out to the kitchen, and Beau made sure that every piece of every ensemble was correct before the shoot. He even changed his shoes half way through to make sure he had his 'worker boots' on for the builder costume.
All poses are Beau's own intepretations of each character. Shame he's so camera shy.

Milestones - The end of prams
The sale of our house prompted a huge clean up, and much of what we gave away were the childrens' old bits and pieces they've grown out of (already!). It got me thinking about milestones, and the ones which aren't necessarily celebrated, but have a massive impact on family life.
I'm not the kind of mum who grieves the passing of milestones. In fact, I'm the exact opposite. I enjoy the kids more and more with each passing month and year, and cherish every new skill they learn, more so than if I had learnt it myself. I think too that because they're so close in age, I can readily see in Jasmine what Beau will be doing soon. And I guess, being youngest, he's always trying to keep up with Jasmine, and often learns things much younger than she did.
One of the biggest milestones we've celebrated this year is no more prams! Prams were one of the most critical accoutrements of new motherhood, and I spent many hours researching and choosing which prams would suit us best. I only wish they'd come with tackometers so I knew how many kilometers I've covered over the years.
I remember when we bought our first pram a friend (in the pram business) told me that families buy on average 5 prams. I was aghast! How could anyone possibly need 5 prams?! But here we are, having just sold our last one, and at last count, we had ended up with no fewer than 5 prams in the last 6 years.
1) Mountain Buggy single three wheeler pram - used to clip everything (legs, door frames, shop stands) due to it's wide wheel base, and travelled many, many, many kilometers with me and Jasmine in the first year of her life, while I walked away the baby blues under a pair of dark sunglasses. Our buggy was bartered for a photo shoot when I was preggie with Beau.
2) The Qld Beema Q pram - we quickly realised we couldn't easily get around Brissy and Currumbin without wheels, and eBay delivered Jasmine a sweet ride up north, which I think completely rusted out and ended up in a hard waste collection when Grandma and Papa moved a couple of years ago.
3) Phil & Ted double three wheeler pram - when we realised Beau was coming along much sooner than I expected we quickly upgraded to a double. This pram has been the longest lasting of all, and we only sold it a few weeks ago (after collecting dust for almost a year in the shed).
4) Maclaren stroller - the 'light' pram, perfect for the malls at Chaddy, and lost/stolen a ridiculously short time after I purchased it when Beau was still a wee mite. I accidentally left it on the footpath on Glenferrie Road when I was in a hurry getting Beau all strapped in to his carseat and all our shopping into the boot and racing to pick up Jasmine from Kinder. I came back a short while later to find it gone, never to be seen again. Even on this blog.
5) Silvercross stroller - the Maclaren's replacement. Only used for a brief time before being loaned to a friend going overseas, after which we realised that we didn't really need it any longer, so they kept it.
Looking at these photos really makes me realise how much the Little Lawrences have grown up. No wonder I'm looking so old now too!
I love that we don't have to lug around a pram any longer. I love that it's not lurking in the entrance of our hallway. But most of all I love that both the kids can walk, run, ride, scoot and skip their way around now.

What have we been doing all year?
We had a thoroughly summery Christmas
And completely pooped ourselves out
And some craft
Laughed with our mouths full
Exhausted ourselves at the beach
Made smoothies in unorthodox ways
Fought fires
Helped out at home
Met our heroes
And completely pooped ourselves out
We did a spot of shopping

Fought fires
Helped out at home
Met our heroes
And then we snuck in another Queensland holiday to Currumbin at Easter

These are a few of our favourite things
These are a few of the Little Lawrences' favourite things right now:
- Calling each other 'baby girl' or 'baby boy' to insult one another.
- Playing 'mozzies' at night time when they should be getting ready for bed.
- Reading anything by Julia Donaldson. OK, maybe that's my favourite thing too.
- Sleep overs in each other's rooms. Although we usually get cross and threaten to split them up and spoil all their fun because they talk and giggle so late.
- Playing 'monsters' in Ardrie Park.
- Dumplings at Auntie's.
- Hearing about when they were really little babies. Or just really young and immature, like 6 months ago.
Jasmine's favourite things:
- Bunnies, guinea pigs and dogs. In that order.
- Becoming a farmer, a vet, a zookeeper and a mummy when she grows up.
- Hugging all her big girl friends at school.
- MONKEY BARS! Her hands are calloused, but her muscles are ripped!
- Drawing. Constantly. And now, many of her drawings are starting to include beautifully misspelled words that just break my heart with their sweetness.
- Earning pocket money.
- Her latest cuddly toy, and her gigantic unicorn soft toy. Yep, I'm the sucker who bought that.
Beau's favourite things:
- Batman costume. Superman costume. Spiderman costume. Ninja costume. Builder costume. Fireman costume. Policeman costume. I think you get the drift. I literally have to sneak some of his costumes out of his room while he sleeps to wash them. All that polyester can't be good for a growing boy's skin, but usually it's not worth the argument to shoe horn him into regular clothing.
- Mummy and Beau day - our home day when Jasmine's at school. We generally visit the cafe and the library, the supermarket, the park and have a scoot or a ride.
- Pasta. Poggie. STILL!
- Soccer/footy/tennis. Anything involving a ball basically.
- Bike riding.
- Fireman Sam.
- Photobombing.
